Looking Within at Elkmont
Elkmont was a vacation community in the middle of the Smoky Mountains. The community was taken over by the National Park Service and the buildings are badly deteriorated. As such they make interesting compositions, but it would be lovely if the buildings were restored as an example of a old-time vacation community.
This is the "front room" at a derelict vacation house at Elkmont. The Park Service wants to renovate/restore these cabins but doesn't seem to have the resources to do so. In its day the house must have been quite something.
